Staff Training

Staff training has begun. This summer, I only have two returning counselors, and 4 other staff who are returners but in new positions. Last summer, we only had 4 new people total. There are challenges in both scenarios, but I think overall, I prefer an entirely new staff because it is a great opportunity to start fresh. Also, the staff come in with new energy, new ideas and aren’t comfortable enough to break rules (which usually lasts until August or later).

We are of to a strong start. Today was mostly introduction stuff, getting the staff warmed up. We do lots of ice breakers, team building and try to get them to be comfortable being silly.

I love staff training and I am super excited for the next ten days and the summer ahead.
